Background

The Women's Health Programs of the Hopi Tribe and Navajo Nation have been conducting breast and cervical cancer screening programs (BCCP) sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for several years. Both Programs have
identified a need NACRP is collaborating with both programs to improve
program evaluation and surveillance of cancer screening,to evaluate the results of these programs and to define goals for further collaborative research.

In addition, we have partnered with the Hopi tribe to design programs to identify current knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and behaviors among Hopi women about breast & cervical cancer screening. As an extension of pilot work done on the Navajo Nation by NACRP students, we are currently working with the NNDOH to identify current issues among women not seeking cancer screening.
